BACK OFF
Lyrics by Mickey Turner
LYRICS
(Verse 1)
you imitate pop culture style
a wink, a nod, a seductive smile
erotic thoughts excite your mind
it's a lust for more and the ties that bind

(Pre-Chorus 1)
burning desires are fanning the flame
you're dancing with fire an X-rated game

(Chorus)
back off - from your worldly ways
back off - just turn away
back off - there's a price to pay
back off

(Verse 2)
you’re self absorbed, it's me, me, me
such an egocentric personality
your green with envy, oh the jealousy
your seeing red thru animosity

(Pre-Chorus 2)
your spiteful temper has an evil eye
if looks could kill someone would die

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
i’ve warned you once, i’ve warned you twice
to let go of sin or pay a price
your choice is clear so count the cost
if you live like the world, then all is lost

(Chorus)
LYRICAL THOUGHT
Our culture is consumed with sex, alcohol, drugs, greed, envy and spite.  It is hedonistic in nature and seeks personal pleasure at any cost.  This generation celebrates, dare I say  idolizes those who live such destructive lifestyles.  Unfortunately, too many Christians conform to similar lifestyles and follow the ways of the world.  In doing so, we show hostility toward God and live opposed to his ways.  As a Jesus follower, we have been warned over and over to “back off” and not indulge in sinful pleasures and actions. It severely strains our relationship with God our Father and jeopardizes the inheritance he wishes to give us.

SCRIPTURAL THOUGHT
**When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)

**- …do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of  God.
(James 4:4)
